| Name | United Nations Climate Change Conference(COP15), and Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol |
| Type | Official Bodies |
| Date | 12/07/2009 — 12/18/2009 |
| City | Copenhagen, Denmark |
| Description | The 15th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCC was the main event of the 2009 international agenda. The importance of the Climate Change and its repercussions all over the world, made that many hopes were pinned in it, mainly from civil society. It was a conference which lasted two weeks and where negotiations were tough and they did not result in an official agreement. Instead, there was the Copenhagen Accord which was not an "official outcome". The UNFCC only "took note of it". Within this background, and knowing that the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012, the Conference was qualified (manily by civil society organizations and some governments) as a failure. Hopes are moved into COP16 in Mexico. |
